Impacts of Tibetan Plateau Spring Snowmelt on Spring and Summer Precipitation in Northwest China

چکیده

Snow on the Tibetan Plateau (TP) is an important signal for prediction of East Asian climate. In this study, relationship between TP spring snowmelt and summer precipitation in Northwest China (NWC) was investigated, along with possible mechanisms linked to impacts precipitation. The results showed that had significant NWC. For example, when there a large central- eastern TP, Hexi Corridor southeast NWC excessive, especially summer; northern deficient across whole NWC, while western led but excessive included fact more over higher soil moisture contents, which further resulted weakened subtropical westerly enhanced ridge Xinjiang. By changing thermal forcing, these anomalous atmospheric circulation conditions transported water vapor into thus creating region.

Precipitation impacts on vegetation spring phenology on the Tibetan Plateau.

The ongoing changes in vegetation spring phenology in temperate/cold regions are widely attributed to temperature. However, in arid/semiarid ecosystems, the correlation between spring temperature and phenology is much less clear. We test the hypothesis that precipitation plays an important role in the temperature dependency of phenology in arid/semiarid regions. We therefore investigated the in...

Altered Precipitation Impacts on Above- and Below-Ground Grassland Invertebrates: Summer Drought Leads to Outbreaks in Spring

Climate change is predicted to result in altered precipitation patterns, which may reshape many grassland ecosystems. Rainfall is expected to change in a number of different ways, ranging from periods of prolonged drought to extreme precipitation events, yet there are few community wide studies to accurately simulate future changes. We aimed to test how above- and below-ground grassland inverte...

Simulated impacts of land cover change on summer climate in the Tibetan Plateau

The Tibetan Plateau (TP) is a key region of land–atmosphere interactions with severe eco-environment degradation. This study uses an atmospheric general circulation model, NCEP GCM/SSiB, to present the major TP summer climate features for six selected ENSO years and preliminarily assess the possible impact of land cover change on the summer circulation over the TP. Compared to Reanalysis II dat...

Climatic Controls on Spring Onset of the Tibetan Plateau Grasslands from 1982 to 2008

U nderstanding environm ental controls on vegetation spring onset (SO) in the Tibetan Plateau (TP) is crucial to diagnosing regional ecosystem responses to climate change. We investigated environm ental controls on the SO of the TP grasslands using satellite vegetation index (VI) from the 3rd Global Inventory M odeling and M apping Studies (GlMMSSg) product, w ith in situ air tem perature (Ta) ...
